Safetykleen has expanded and upgraded its fleet with 85 new vehicles. The deal, which marks one of the largest orders to be placed for Iveco's new Eurocargo medium truck range, will consist of:

-61 x 3.5 tonne trucks

-11 x 7 tonne trucks

-6 x 15 tonne trucks

-4 x 26 tonne tankers

-3 x 44 tonne tractor units

The new trucks will gradually be rolled out over the next couple of months and will be spread across Safetykleen’s nationwide network of 19 branches and waste transfer stations, and form part of a 248-strong commercial vehicle fleet. The latest Iveco vehicles, which have been taken on a contract hire basis through fleet services firm Fraikin, were chosen for their industry leading environmental performance, first class safety features and comfortable design.

Each vehicle will be fitted with Masternaut vehicle tracking and driver feedback technology, which will provide access to instant feedback on driving performance and style as well as offering real-time audible coaching. This will help improve fuel efficiency across the fleet and reduce Safetykleen’s impact of the environment. All vehicles include a semi-automatic gearbox, which will help to enhance driver comfort and safety, particularly as Safetykleen vehicles are increasingly operating in urban areas where routine traffic congestion means stop/start driving is commonplace.

Operations Director at Safetykleen, Graham Webb, said: "The new fleet will incorporate enhanced driver facilities, recognising that this is the office for many of our staff. In addition, an improved fit out and design of the main body of the vehicles will better suit the needs of our customers as well as the efficient delivery of the products we provide.”
